Speaking of the company’s plans for the new office Alex Kroogman, CEO of PressReader, said: “We see a lot of great things happening in the tech sector in Ireland and we’re excited to be another large force that’s pushing the industry forward. Now that we’ve opened our Dublin office we’re starting our search for top Irish tech talent. Our first goal is to hire developers to help build and enhance PressReader’s machine learning capabilities. Initiatives like CETA, the Canada-EU trade agreement, make it possible for us to find the very best people to fill these high-skill positions and compete on a global scale.”

Ireland’s 5-star hotels Embrace PressReader

In Ireland PressReader has been gaining ground in the hospitality sector with many 5* hotels offering complimentary access including The Shelbourne, the Marker, Adare Manor, the K Club and Ashford Castle.

Earlier this month the company launched a partnership with Cathay Pacific to bring PressReader to its 34 million customers. Cathay Pacific recently announced the addition of flights to Ireland in June.

Other leading publications on the platform include The Washington Post, The Guardian, Le Monde, Bloomberg Businessweek, Popular Science and NME.

IDA Ireland’s CEO Martin Shanahan said: “PressReader helps publishers and brand partners take advantage of the ongoing shift in media consumption habits as more people read and access content digitally. It has helped thousands of publishers evolve from initial on-demand distribution to digital, opening up new growth opportunities while safeguarding the future of quality journalism and helping readers discover great content. We are delighted to support them in helping to build their team in Ireland.”

Canadian Ambassador to Ireland Kevin Michael Vickers commented: “I am pleased to welcome PressReader to Ireland and to have them join the growing number of Canadian companies that have expanded to the country recently. With the Canada-European Union (EU) Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) provisionally applied, we expect to see more Canadian companies follow in PressReader’s footsteps and take advantage of Ireland’s strong and growing tech sector, the access to the European market it offers, and the ever-growing commercial ties between our two countries. I would like to wish PressReader much success in its continued growth and global expansion.”
