- Valerie Mpundu

KIDPRENUER Tamar Kunashe Muchineuta scooped the prestigious Financial Literacy Award in Botswana at the recently held Africa Kidpreneur Summit in Gaborone.

Africa Kidpreneur Summit is an initiative meant to nurture the next African entrepreneurs.

It seeks to inspire and empower African children aged between seven to 18 years to turn their dreams into reality.

In an interview, the kidprenuer from Rhapsody International Academy was excited to share her journey, highlighting the need to empower children from a young age.

“I started four years ago. This would not have been successful without support from my mother.

“There are charity projects I run and I realised they needed to be sustained hence I took the initiative to start on fragrances.

“Going head to head with contestants from other countries, I was nervous.

“It was a tough competition but I was determined and focused. I kept reminding myself of the queen I am,” she said.

Tamar, who owns Tamar Fragrance, said she has gained recognition in the Zimbabwean social enterprise and next month she is set to host 50 children for the Zedkid Entrepreneurship.

“I am a philanthropist and I believe in sharing my ideas.

“This event is going to give us as children a platform to exchange ideas and interact while building business ideas,” she said.

Tamar’s mother, Shalom Ramunyenyiwa, who works closely with her, vowed to continue supporting her child.

“She is my only child I am very proud of her.

“Not only is she focused on the business aspect of life but Tamar is creative and artistic.

“You can see she is determined, when she sets her mind on anything she sees it to the tee. She is also a model and make-up artist,” she said.

Tamar is actively involved in charity and pays fees for several underprivileged children.

“My mom has taught me a candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.

“We are the future and we can only build by helping out one another,” she said.

In previous events countries such as Botswana, Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana and Uganda have participated.

The first summit was virtually attended in 2022 with over 200 participants.

AKS’s objective is to break down constraints that often limit young innovators boldly placing them on the world stage.

Kenya and Botswana have successfully hosted the summit with Tanzania being next in line Tamar has vowed to put in the work and do exceptionally well exceeding her past performance.

“I am relaxed and currently on holiday.

“After the meeting next month, my focus will be shifted to the next summit. There is always a chance to do better,” she said.

Categories featured in the summit include Green Economy, Sports and wellness, Technology, Creativity and Arts among others.
