Black Rhinos aim at quick PSL rebound

- Curtworth Masango

BLACK Rhinos vice chairman Colonel Edward Mutukwa says they have accepted their fate after being relegated to Division One and they are already mapping a way forward for them to rebound to the Premier Soccer League.

Key to their plans is that the club will retain the majority of its squad and continue with head coach Saul Chaminuka.

“We would like to congratulate our coach Saul Chaminuka for being voted as the November 2023 Coach of the month. This good work by our humble coach was there for all to see, which all would agree that he had built a formidable outfit though too late for us to survive relegation since destiny was no longer in our hands. “The whole team gave it their all, fought gallantly as soldiers despite the uneven playing field characterised by match manipulations, biased officiating amongst a host of dirty tactics being employed by the other bottom teams.

“To us that is now water under the bridge, we learnt from our mistakes.

“The coach and the bulky of the players will remain with the team in order to avoid rebuilding.

“We have faith in the coach’s abilities and there are no coaching vacancies at the club for now.

“Those that are in ambush and spreading ill rumours, are encouraged to find jobs elsewhere and prove their worthy at other clubs.

“The Army Sports Board has directed that the team returns to the top flight league as soon as possible and that will be achieved. We are geared to continue from the good run that the team had achieved and achieve the desired results. He added:

“We really appreciate the support from all stakeholders involved. We have learnt from our mistakes, which are shared and we will definitely pull together and correct them as such. The brand has not faded but it will regenerate and blossom in a much better way.”
