FAZ TO EMPOWER U- 17 GAFFERS
THE Football Association of Zambia ( FAZ) has promised to empower the Under17 women’s national team technical bench led by coach Carol Kanyemba with the necessary technical support in terms of training to equip the team with tactical knowledge ahead of the 2024 Under- 17 Fifa World Cup.
FAZ president Andrew Kamanga said the association would find additional training opportunities for Kanyemba and the entire Under- 17 technical bench for the team to be ready for the World Cup.
The Copper Princesses beat Morocco 3- 1 on aggregate to qualify for the youth World Cup, a decade after the maiden appearance at the 2014 edition in Costa Rica.
Speaking when he welcomed the triumphant team at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport from Morocco, Kamanga said FAZ was very proud of the success recorded by the Under- 17 team for putting smiles on the over 20 million Zambians.
Kamanga said the association will make sure that the Copper Princesses

are prepared adequately for the World Cup scheduled to run between October 16 and November 3 in the Dominican Republic.
“One of our biggest investments that we have always done with all the other teams has been to prepare the teams adequately as you go for competitions, how do we do that? By making sure that we give you quality friendly matches, we give you international camping opportunities so that at the end of the day your job is just to go and play your football,” Kamanga said.
He also encouraged the Copper Princesses to work hard to be able to achieve greatness like the Copper Queens duo of Barbra Banda and Rachael Kundananji who are known all over the world as the most expensive female footballers.
“We can put in all the mechanisms to give you all the opportunities. We will do our part, your coaches will do their part but you as players also have to do your part and if the three parts work together, the sky as they say is the limit,” Kamanga said.
Meanwhile, Kanyemba has hailed the association for the support which inspired the team to achieve the objective of qualifying for the World Cup.
And Copper Princesses captain Zangose Banda said the players will not relax after qualifying for the World Cup.
