UPND tasked to honour campaign promises
KASENENGWA aspiring Parliamentary Candidate, Saili Phiri, has expressed his disappointment and concern over the United Party for National Development's ( UPND) alleged failure to fulfill its campaign promises.
Mr Phiri in an interview said the UPND's unmet commitments on addressing caderism, load shedding and the high cost of living is betrayal to the trust placed in them by the electorate.
He lamented the devastating impact of prolonged power outages on young entrepreneurs and the economy at large.
Mr Phiri also criticised the police under the UPND administration's restrictions on opposition political parties holding rallies, stating that it goes against democratic principles.
He stressed the importance of allowing competition and diverse perspectives to flourish in a democratic society.
"The police and the UPND administration should foster a competitive environment, essential for democracy to thrive.
"Restricting opposition parties from holding rallies is not indicative of a democratic country. We must allow diverse perspectives to flourish and ensure that the voices of the people are heard and represented," he said.
Mr Phiri also condemned the exploitation of youths as tools of violence by politicians, urging them to instead contribute positively to the country's development.
"Youths are the future of our country, and we must inspire them to be change- makers, not pawns in political games. We need to empower them to contribute positively to the development of our country," he said.
