UPND decampaigning themselves - NAREP

- By NATION REPORTER

NATIONAL Restoration Party (NAREP) a UPND alliance partner says the UPND government are decampaigning themselves for arresting Chief Chikwa because the Nsenga speaking people will not be happy with the act.

NAREP president Ezra Ngulube said drastic actions which the UPND administration are undertaking will incite the people to get rid of them.

In an interview, Mr Ngulube said the government should not have arrested the traditional leader instead address the matter administratively.

He said it is shameful to embarrass the traditional leader in such a manner.

The security wings unearthed overwhelming evidence that the traditional leader, against many warning messages, had been engaging foreign nationals to harvest timber using the license which is a reserve for local people. “We are very saddened by the arrest of Chief Chikwa, his arrest has come at a time when this country needs healing with regard to the divisions that have existed in this country for a quiet a long time.

We would like to urge the Ministry of Green Economy to very conscious especially when comes to the matters that involves the Chiefs, as NAREP we are party that believes in values and part of our values is that you cannot counsel your father in public.

He therefore said there is need to stop agents being used to decampaign President Hakainde Hichilema.

Meanwhile, governance activist Wesley Miyanda said, the arrest of Chief Chikwa makes a sad narrative.

Mr Miyanda said “Where is the fairness in the application of rule of law here, who is more sinful between the arrested Chief Chikwa and these selfish individuals occupying Forest 27.
