Miles drags Mwamba to court for hosting Mr Ground, Chama Amerika
EXPELLED Matero Member of Parliament Miles Sampa has commenced contempt of court proceedings against Emmanuel Mwamba for hosting a podcast commenting on the legality of his election as Patriotic Front (PF) president, a matter which is before the High Court.
Mr Sampa contends that Mr Mwamba, in a one minute 57 seconds video, directed political commentators, Victor Kapungwe and Chama Amerika to comment on his election as party president knowing well the matter was still in court.
He said the alleged podcast was titled: Miles Sampa’s illegal conference.
“That the declaration of my election as party president was illegal, null and void during the podcast hosted by the second petitioner (Emmanuel Mwamba) has potential to bring the court in disrepute should the court’s decision be at variance with the sentiments made on the podcast, as the public is aware of the podcast of the second petitioner as it has a wide-reaching audience,” he submitted.
He said Mr Mwamba should have respected the due process of the law and allowed for the matter to be adjudicated upon fairly without presenting a narrative to the public that might cause conflict and embarrassment to the court.
Mr Sampa has submitted that the alleged contemnor had no excuse for his unlawful conduct and therefore should be cited for contempt of court and committed to prison.
This is a matter in which Mr Mutotwe Kafwaya and six others are challenging the election of Mr Sampa, as PF party president and the appointment of Mr Morgan Ng’ona as the party Secretary General. Other petitioners are Mr Chishimba Kambwili, Mr Brian Mundubile, Mr Godfrey Bwalya Mwamba, Mr Greyford Monde and Dr Chitalu Chilufya.
