Last Tuesday night in Bartow County, a run by Heritage in the top of the third inning was the only score of the game through the first four frames. Ema Tanner was hit by a pitch and Addie Edwards reached base on an error. Those runners moved into scoring position on a groundout off the bat of Bree Wilson before Tanner scored on an RBI-single by Jenna Ryans.

The Generals picked up more than enough insurance with five runs in the top of the fifth. Edwards singled and Wilson drew a walk. Ryans also singled, although the Lady Tigers threw out the lead runner at the plate. However, Molly Corvin had a two-run double and Bailee Hollis followed with an RBI-single. Later, following an Ella Blansit single, Landry White delivered a two-run double.

Blansit capped the scoring with a solo home run in the top of the seventh.

Of the 21 outs recorded by Heritage, all but three were handled by Edwards, who struck out a season-high 18 batters in the seven-inning no-hitter. She retired the first eight batters she faced on strikes, retired the side in order on strikes in both the fourth and fifth innings and had two more strikeouts in the sixth before finishing it off in the seventh.

Ryans, Edwards and Blansit had two hits apiece for the Navy-and-Red.

Back in Boynton two days later, the Generals’ shutout streak ended at nine games and their scoreless inning streak also came to a halt, but the winning streak remained firmly intact.

The Navy-and-Red made it 14 consecutive victories, though it took a sixth-inning rally to beat the Lady Tigers.

After holding the visitors at bay for three innings, Adairsville got three singles and RBI on a groundout to put up two runs in the top of the fourth. It ended a run of 60.2 consecutive innings of shutout ball by the Generals dating back to Aug. 19.

Heritage got one of the runs back in the bottom of the inning as Macie Collins led off with a triple and scored on a single by White.

The Generals still trailed 2-1 coming to bat in the bottom of the sixth when Collins got on base with a one-out walk. Electra Bowling was inserted as a pinch runner and Brylee Pritchett was hit by a pitch to set the table for White, who delivered a single to tie the game.

Moments later, Tanner brought in the go-ahead run with an RBI-single and White later scored on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Wilson.

Pitcher Bailee Hollis retired the Lady Tigers in order in the top of the seventh to secure the victory. She allowed four hits and one walk with six strikeouts. Both runs she gave up were earned.

White went 3 for 3 on the evening with two RBIs. Ryans had a double, while Hollis and Corvin also had singles for Heritage, who improved to 15-1 overall with the win.

The Generals were scheduled to play this past Friday in the SCORE International Invitational. Coverage of that event is available of our website.
