Armed Forces Day golf tournament set for Saturday

The Armed Forces Day golf tournament, sponsored by American Legion Battlefiel­d Post 214, is set for this Saturday, May 11 at Brainerd Golf Course in Chattanoog­a. The event will go to support area veterans.

The four-person select-shot event will start with registrati­on at 7:30 a.m. with play beginning at 8:30. Coffee and doughnuts, as well as lunch, will be served.

The fee is $75 per player or $300 per team and the tournament is limited to 72 players. Mulligans will be $5 each (limit two). Cash prizes and other prizes will be awarded and the first verified hole-inone on the par 3 sixth hole will win $25,000.

HERITAGE BASKETBALL ACADEMY

Heritage High School is currently hosting a Basketball Academy. Remaining dates include May 15 and 22.

Third through fifth graders will practice from 6-7 p.m., while sixth through eighth graders will practice from 7-8 p.m. Each clinic will be held at Heritage High School and taught by girls’ head coach Greg Elkins and boys’ head coach Chris Hight, along with their assistants.

Heritage will also be hosting a series of other youth camps from early May through late June.

A volleyball camp will be held May 6-7 from 6:15-8 p.m. each night at a cost of $40 per player and a soccer camp will be held May 29-31. In addition, an ArtKids camp will be held June 3-7 (9 a.m.-2 p.m.) at a cost of $185 per camper. A wrestling camp is slated for June 3-6 (10 a.m.-12 noon) at $50 per camper and the Little Generals Football Camp will be June 24-26 (9 a.m.-12 noon) at $75 per camper.

MOTHER’S DAY BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

Ridgeland High School will host their “Hoops And Hugs” Basketball Tournament this weekend (May 10-11). It is open to boys and girls from third through 11th grade. All proceeds will benefit Ridgeland basketball in memory of Becky Mullinax.

GORDON LEE VOLLEYBALL CAMP

Gordon Lee will host its Little Trojan volleyball camp May 1314 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. each day. The camp is open to both girls and boys that are upcoming first-eighth graders. The fee is $70 per camper.

SADDLE RIDGE VOLLEYBALL CAMP

The Future Lady Mustangs volleyball camp will be held May 14-16 from 3-5 p.m. each day at Saddle Ridge Middle School. The camp is open to girls in second through fifth grade at a cost of $40 per camper.

All campers who attend will receive a t-shirt, but those who pay before May 3 will receive their t-shirt at camp.

RIDGELAND HALL OF FAME BANQUET

The Ridgeland High School Athletic Hall of Fame will host their fifth annual Vonn Bell Awards and Ridgeland Hall of Fame induction ceremony and banquet on Saturday, May 18. The event will take place at 6 p.m. at Ridgeland High School.

The banquet and ceremony will include dinner, induction of the fifth class of the Ridgeland Athletic Hall of Fame and presentati­on of the Vonn Bell Awards.

Individual tickets will be $35, or tables of eight can be purchased for $275.

HERITAGE SOFTBALL CAMP

The Heritage High School softball skills camp will be held May 28-30 from 9 a.m.12 noon each day. The camp is open to players ages 5-12 at a cost of $75 per camper.

The camp will be held on the Heritage High School softball field. In the event of rain, activities will be held in the hitting building behind the high school baseball field.

Campers are asked to bring cleats, tennis shoes, a glove, a helmet, water and a bat (if they have one).

Heritage’s current coaching staff will provide instructio­n, along with former Heritage and current college players.

RINGGOLD SOFTBALL CAMP

The 2024 Ringgold High School softball camp will be held May 28-30 from 9 a.m.-12 noon each day at the Ringgold softball field and hitting facility. The camp will be open to players in kindergart­en through eighth grade at a cost of $70 per camper.

Check-in will begin on May 28 at 8 a.m. on the softball field and the camp will conclude promptly at 12 noon each day.

The Lady Panthers 2024 Fastpitch Skills Camp will be held June 3-4 from 6-9 p.m. each night at a cost of $40 per camper.

The camp is open to rising third through eighth graders. Campers are asked to bring tennis shoes (no cleats) along with a bat, a helmet, a glove and a water bottle. Water will be provided at the camp.

CHICKEN DINNER GOLF TOURNAMENT

The 88th Annual Chicken Din

ner Golf Tournament will be held at the LaFayette Golf Course June 8-9. Entry fee for golf course members is $125, while the entry fee for non-members is $150.

The fee will cover carts for 18-hole rounds each day, range balls and the annual chicken dinner, which will be served Saturday only from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

All golfers will receive a gift at the start of their round on Saturday and prizes will be awarded for every par 3 hole-in-one on Saturday only.

LFO BASEBALL CAMP

The LFO youth summer baseball camp will be held June 10-11 from 9 a.m.-12 noon each day at the Jack Archer Complex.

The camp is open to players ages 5-12 at the cost of $65 per camper. That cost also includes a t-shirt. Campers are asked to bring swim trunks on the second day of the camp.

The Gordon Lee Trojans’ football camp will be held June 10-12 from 8 a.m.-12 noon each day on the high school football field.

Ridgeland High School will host the 3:23 Training and Developmen­t wrestling camp on Thursday, June 13 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the school’s auxiliary gym.

The camp is for athletes in grades

6-12 with a camp fee of $20 per athlete at the door. College level techniques will be taught during the camp.
