Rachel Carlson
Rachael Carlson, 74, LaMoure, North Dakota formerly Litchville, North Dakota passed away peacefully with family by her side on Tuesday, February 27th at St. Rose Care Center in LaMoure.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 am, Tuesday March 5th at Zoar Lutheran Church in LaMoure. The visitation will be one hour before the funeral service at the church. Burial will be at Litchville Cemetery.
Rachael Diane Olson was born April 6, 1949. She attended and graduated from Litchville Public School in 1967.
Rachael married Terry Lee Carlson also of Litchville on September 5th, 1967 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton, North Dakota. To this union a daughter, Jami Leigh Carlson was born. Rachael was employed at Sterns while in Wahpeton and later with Vanguard Industries in Shakopee, Minnesota.
They purchased Terry’s parents farm, North of Hastings, North Dakota residing there and farming until selling it and purchasing the Amoco Oil bulk dealership in Litchville. They then went into partnership with Mitch Haugen and Terry McCleary and started TMT Lumber in Litchville.
They moved to Jamestown, North Dakota in 1993 where Rachael was employed as a bookkeeper for White Drug Plaza and later as a member service representative at First Community Credit Union. They returned to farming making their home on the Olson family farm south of Litchville.
Rachael was first and for most a loving wife, mom, grandma and great grandma. She instilled in her family love, kindness and faith. She took pride in her home, hosting family and friends. She loved to bake and garden, play cards and fun activities with her grandchildren and was active in bowling league. Rachael was a member of First Lutheran Church of Litchville, active in Sunday School, Women’s ELCA and Circle.
Rachael genuinely cared and befriended everyone she met. She was a hard worker, patient, a peacemaker at heart, and beautiful inside and out. Though she was dealt many hardships, her courage, positive attitude and sense of humor carried her through.
Rachael is survived by her daughter Jami Carlson Rodin, LaMoure, ND; grandson Aaron (Kayla) Rodin, Litchville, ND; granddaughters, Brenna Rodin (Ethan McManaman), Chandler, AZ; Alyson Rodin (Adam Haberman), LaMoure, ND; and Nateal Rodin, Chandler, AZ; one great grandchild, Brynlee Rodin, Litchville, ND and her beloved dog Sadie. She is also survived by her uncle Clayton (Cleone) Olson, Billings, MT; sister-in-laws Audrey Peterson, Valley City, ND, Dorene Stark, New Hope, MN, Sharon Pearson, Coon Rapids, MN, and LaRue Carlson, Sandy, UT as well as several nieces and nephews.
Rachael was preceded in death by her husband Terry; two granddaughters, Katelyn and Mackenzie; parents, Harold and Mavis Olson Erickson; and brother-in-laws, Harley Carlson, Curt Carlson, Lyle Peterson, Joseph Stark, and Gary Pearson; and sister-inlaw, Sherry Carlson.
Memorials may be designated to St. Rose Care Center.
