Jeanette Larson, 87, originally Valley City, passed away peacefully at Edgewood Assisted Living in Jamestown, ND, on March 1, 2024.

Jeanette Jean Henke was born April 17th, 1936, to Edward and Martha (Klein) Henke in Valley City, ND. She was the oldest of 7 children, having 6 younger brothers.

Jeanette attended Ritchie School in Valley City. Jeanette was an amazing cook and this talent led her to own different cafes throughout the area, including ones in Finley, Fingal, Dazey and Valley City. She also worked at Arkota Industries and The National Fish Hatchery.

Jeanette was united in marriage to Douglas Carpenter in 1956. The union blessed her with her four children, Kelly, Debra, Jeffrey, and Kevin, in a period of four years.

Her younger years were spent working and chasing after her rambunctio­us children. After her children were grown and started their own families, Jeanette became caretaker for her parents. In her later years Jeanette was an avid pinochle player, thoroughly enjoying the competitio­n as well as spending time with her friends. Jeanette was very proud of the tournament­s that she participat­ed in and won on occasion. She also loved playing bingo and taking trips to the casino with her daughter Debra.

She is survived by her son Kevin (Dallas) Carpenter, brother Paul Henke, sister-in-law Josephine Henke, son-inlaw Randy Earles, numerous grandchild­ren, great granchildr­en and great-great grandchild­ren as well as nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Martha, her brothers, and sisters -in-law Richard and Virginia Henke, Daniel and Bonnie Henke, Clayton Henke, David Henke, Emanual Henke and Barb Henke, her children Kelly Carpenter, Jeffrey Carpenter and Debra Earles, and a grandson Michael Carpenter.

The funeral service will be 10:30 am Thursday, March 7, at OliverNath­an Funeral Chapel, Valley City. Visitation will be one hour before the service in the chapel.
