⬤ Adam Scott. After missing the FedExCup Playoffs last season for the first time in 17 years, he enters this week at No. 46 and with momentum from a runner-up at the Genesis Scottish Open and a T-10 at the British Open in his last two starts.

⬤ Viktor Hovland. It’s now-or-never time for the FedExCup defending champion, who has one top-10 finish in 13 starts this season and enters the week at No. 57. He needs to jump into the top 50 to defend his title at the BMW Championsh­ip or else become the first player since the Playoffs began in 2007 to fail to reach the final tournament.

⬤ Jordan Spieth. At No. 63 entering the playoffs and coming off a missed cut at the Wyndham Championsh­ip, the 2015 FedExCup champion has work to do to make the top 50 and advance to the BMW Championsh­ip, which Spieth has qualified for in 10 of his previous 11 seasons on the PGA Tour.

Tee times

Golf Channel’s coverage on Thursday will highlight the following pairings: world No. 1 and Masters champion Scottie Scheffler and two-time major winner Xander Schauffele will be the featured group and tee off at 1:45 EDT after Hideki Matsuyama and Sahith Theegala (1:35).

On Friday, Golf Channel will feature Wyndham Clark and Ludvig Aberg (1:35); and Rory McIlroy and Collin Morikawa (1:45).

FedExCup

Aaron Rai’s first win on the PGA Tour was worth 500 points in the season-long standings and propelled him 28 spots forward to 25th place overall. The FedExCup consists of 38 events and it is down to the three-tournament FedExCup playoffs, which culminate Aug. 29-Sept. 1 at the Tour Championsh­ip at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.
