Bethel volleyball sweeps Vallejo

Benicia softball wins two, while St. Pat's softball splits a pair

The Bethel High boys volleyball team swept rival Vallejo on Friday, winning 25-14, 25-8, 25-13.

John Sanchez had 12 assists and two aces, while Keith Ramos had nine aces, eight kills and four digs. Sergio Hernandez had seven assists and two aces.

Bethel plays Hercules on Monday.

Softball Benicia 15, Escalon 3 Benicia 11, Livingston 2

The Benicia High softball team won a pair of games on Thursday, defeating Escalon 15-3 in five innings and then defeating Livingston 11-2 later in the day.

In the win over Escalon the Panthers were led by Emma French who had four hits, including two doubles. Kyra Mason had three hits and three RBI, while Suae Beatty had two hits and five RBI.

Alana Robinson pitched five innings and struck out four.

In the win against Livingston, French had three hits including a home run to go with three RBI. Mason had two hits, including a home run and also drove in three. Ava Rojas and Vanessa Smith each had two hits, as did Beatty.

Sinead Maas earned the win by pitching three innings and striking out six.

St. Pat's 18, Swett 12 Archie Williams 11, St. Pat's 0

The St. Patrick-St. Vincent High softball team defeated John Swett 18-12 on Thursday before losing later in the week to Archie Williams 11-0.

In the win over Swett, Raniyah Ellis had four hits and three doubles. Lucia Rubalcava had three hits while Aiani Prater and Daisha Connors collected two more. Sophia Hughes had two hits, including a double.

Hughes pitched a complete game and gave up 12 hits, but also struck out 17 batters.

Rubalcava and Ellis had the only hits in the loss to Archie Williams.

Vacaville 12, American Canyon 1

The Vacaville High softball team defeated American Canyon 12-1 on Saturday in a nonleague contest.

Ashlyn Wilson and Angelique Perez each had three hits for the Bulldogs, while Jordan Munn hit a home run. Natalya Stonebrake­r and Laila Dean also homered for Vacaville.

Xochitl Atayde pitched four innings and struck out nine batters.

American Canyon was led in the loss by Deja Montgomery, who had two hits including a double.

Baseball Concord 2, Bethel 0

The Bethel High baseball team lost to Concord 2-0 on Friday.

The Jaguars could only muster one hit in the loss.

Bethel fell to 0-6 on the season with the loss.
