State champ Pennridge earns 3 first team selections

- By Andrew Robinson

Pennridge authored a season for the ages, dropping points just once in 26 matches and living through a prolific attack and robust defense.

Dock Mennonite joined the Rams in pulling a District 1/PIAA title double-dip while Archbishop Wood continued its reign in the PCL and plenty of other teams had terrific seasons led by an extremely deep pool of talented players.

The Rams have three first team selections to headline the Reporter/Times Herald/Montgomery Media Girls Soccer All-Area Teams.

Player of the Year selection Liv Grenda anchors a strong midfield unit that was equally adept at creating and scoring goals as it was defending in front of the back line. Grenda’s 29 goals helped her to a first team All-SOL Colonial selection, all-state nomination and all-region honors as well breaking Pennridge’s career scoring records.

Hatboro-Horsham’s Emma Levin has been one of the area’s top midfielders since she first stepped on the pitch for the Hatters. Central Bucks East had a really strong season and a lot of that success unsurprisingly radiated from their central midfield. Senior captain Sofia Mignon, a first team All-SOL Colonial selection was a stalwart on defense and the NJIT recruit also factored a good bit into the offense, especially as a clutch penalty kick taker. Mignon gave the young attackers in front of her plenty of confidence to be aggressive, knowing she’d have their backs.

Up top, there’s plenty of speed, technical ability and finishing to go around.

Pennridge’s Tori Angelo pestered defenses with her relentless energy and constant movement all season. The Seton Hall pledge chalked up 21 goals on the year, leading to a first team AllSOL Colonial selection and she was equally engaged pressing the ball and working back on defense.

Ashley Brown had a debut season to remember, the Dock Mennonite freshman putting a cap on a brilliant year with a star showing in the PIAA 1A title game where she scored four goals and assisted another. In total, the
