Delano, Minnesota Gregory Dobbs, 7/16/1965 9/12/2024, The Dobbs’ family is heartbroke­n to announce that Greg passed away unexpected­ly on September 12, 2024 in Delano, MN where he resided with his wife Tracey. Greg was born in Wichita, KS, graduated from Campus High School in 1983 and Friends University in 1988. In 2004 Greg married the love of his life, Tracey Dobbs. During their marriage Greg and Tracey lived in Omaha, NE, Hopkinton, MA and Delano, MN, with Minnesota becoming their home for over 16 years. Greg’s career in managing physical security for the banking and healthcare industries lasted more than 30 years. He was an active member of ASIS Internatio­nal and held several certificat­ions such as CPP, Certified Protection Profession­al, Workplace Violence Awareness and Prevention Instructor Certificat­ion, PSP, Physical Security Profession­al, and Non-Violent Crisis Interventi­on Instructor Certificat­ion. In his last role in banking Greg served as an Assistant Vice President for Commercial Federal Bank. When he lived in Massachuse­tts he worked as a Senior Security Engineer managing projects across the world, including the Taunton Courthouse in MA and resorts in UAE and Oman. Prior to his retirement he served as a Physical Security Manager for Catholic Health Initiative­s / CommonSpir­it. Giving back and helping others was very important to Greg. He served as the Safety Commission­er for the town of Delano. While in Omaha, he was a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteer for children. CASA’s mission is to train, empower, and inspire volunteer advocates to improve the lives of abused and neglected children. This was an opportunit­y that Greg cherished. Greg was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Ray Dobbs, and his brother Darris Dobbs. He is survived by his loving family: wife Tracey of MN, mother Mona (aka Grammer) and brother Jeffery of KS, niece Amanda, her husband David and three great nieces Eleanor, Maevy and Vera of CA. He also leaves behind his in-laws Steve and Sue of MN, a sister-in-law Wendy and a niece Eleni of PA, in addition to many extended family and friends he held dear in his heart. Greg treasured family most of all and his beloved dogs Kati, Madison, Lily and Sugar were his children. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 19th, from 6-8 PM, and a service is scheduled for Friday, September 20, 2024 at 2 PM at Shinkle Mortuary located at 146 N. Lamar Ave, Haysville, KS 67060. In lieu of flowers, Memorial: Tunnel to Towers, 2361 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10306.
