Head spas are an increasingly popular trend nationally and in Wichita, so Utopia Modern Salon Suites founder Kristin Kienzle has decided to use a suite at her new west-side salon at Tyler Pointe at

13th and Tyler to offer the treatment.

“It’s an indulgent service,” she said.

The approximately hourlong service — which lasts longer with add-ons — focuses on scalp health and relaxation.

“What sets our head spa apart is we are offering a blow-dry finish . . . with every service,” Kienzle said. “Some people send you out wet, which is crazy.”

She said add-on services include upgrades to the styling “if you want to leave with a more polished, finished look and (a) blowout that should last you days.”

There will be a range of prices depending on the services.

Kienzle said customers are welcome to use the blow-out bar services alone, without the spa treatment, for special events “or just to save themselves from having to wash and style their hair for a few days.”

She added, though, that the “intense scalp massage . . . is the best part.”

The treatment also includes a neck and shoulder massage and hot towels as well.

Kienzle is calling the treatment suite Utopia:

The Experience.

The new Utopia Modern Salon Suites, which is Kienzle’s third in the market, is opening the weekend of Sept. 28, and Utopia: The Experience will begin taking appointments the week of Oct. 7.

Like her other salon suites, Kienzle said there will be a variety of tenants at the new space offering a range of services. She said she hopes to add even more.

“We do still have a few suites available to lease.”
