‘Love Our Locals’ campaign a success for small businesses
SARATOGA COUNTY, N.Y. >> Last year’s “Love Our Locals” campaign, organized by the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce to promote local small businesses, was highly successful.
According to a press release, during the campaign, shoppers and donors were encouraged to submit their receipts of $20.23 or more spent at a Saratoga County business or nonprofit to be entered in a gift card giveaway. More than 2,500 receipts were submitted over the eight-week campaign, and dozens of lucky participants were gift card winners.
More than $206,384 was spent supporting the local economy.
In the campaign’s threeyear history, which started as “Save Our Locals” during the pandemic, 6,581 receipts have been submitted totaling $528,373. Launched in 2021, the campaign directly aided the County’s economic rebound in the wake of COVID-related restrictions. In 2022, Save Our Locals was recognized with a New York State Tourism Excellence Award from the New York State Tourism Industry Association.
Last year, the newly renamed “Love Our Locals $20.23” campaign remained a popular and successful initiative for the Chamber and the local business communities.
“The Chamber would like to thank each and every one of the Love Our Locals $20.23 participants who chose to support Saratoga County businesses and nonprofits through this campaign. We hope you will continue to love our locals throughout 2024,” said Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce president Todd Shimkus in the release. “We are so grateful to our sponsors and gift card donors who helped make this program a success in 2023, and we look forward to bringing it back as Love Our Locals $20.24 later this year.”
