Rainy weather in, Florida St. out of Oregon softball’s home tourney
TheOregon softball team will play at home for the first time this season — fingers crossed — when it hosts the Jane Sanders Classic at Jane Sanders Stadium. But it’s not the same schedule that was on the agenda when the week began.
The weather forecast predicting rain for the three days of tournament, as well as Florida State’s decision on Tuesday to not make the trip west, has forced the Ducks to reconfigure that starting times and matchups.
Oregon (9-7) will play a doubleheader against Mount St. Mary’s (2-6) on Thursday beginning at 12:30 p.m. Maryland (5-9) and No. 4 Washington (12-2) will due the same, except they’ll stay in Seattle for their games before heading to Eugene Friday. The Ducks will play Mount St. Mary’s again at 10:30 a.m. Friday, then Maryland at 1 p.m. Mount St. Mary’s and Washington will play the final game Friday at 3:30 p.m.
On Saturday, Maryland and Mount St. Mary’s will play at 10 a.m., followed by Oregon and Maryland at 12:30 p.m. and Washington and Mount. St. Mary’s at 3 p.m. to end the tournament.
Oregon announced Tuesday evening the No. 12 Seminoles pulled out of the tournament “due to travel concerns.” They will instead play the Ducks in Eugene during the 2025 season.
