Lois June (Peace) Summerville, 95

-

Lois June (Peace) Summerville, 95, of Brookville, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024.

She was born on June 2, 1929, to the late Clair Camden and Olive (Reed) Peace in Cramer. On June 28, 1958, Lois married Edward Winfield Summerville at the Paradise United Methodist Church. Ed preceded her in passing on May 29, 2021.

After graduating from high school, she worked for a few different places including Cameron, Standard Pennant Company and Symmco. However, her primary role in life, and the position she loved the most, was being a homemaker. She enjoyed being able to take care of her family. She was a member of the Roseville Independent Chapel and participated as a member of the choir. She was also a member of the Roseville Grange and the Roseville Missionary Society. For years, she helped with the Meals on Wheels program, and she had volunteered at the Pennsylvania Memorial Home. More recently, she colored cards for Liberty Ministries, even when it became difficult to use her hands.

Lois always had a smile on her face when you came through the door, and she never complained despite her increasing physical hardships. She was a star when it came to playing “Name That Tune” as her son played the piano for her. She loved listening to her daughters play the piano as well. She also loved playing Scrabble, again, mostly with her children. She played piano for years. Throughout the years, she spent many hours providing bouquets of flowers that were displayed every Sunday during church services. When she was no longer able to do it herself, her children helped her accomplish this passion according to how she wanted them displayed. She loved her flowers, and she loved animals. Lois was a dedicated prayer warrior; even after her body began to fail and she was unable to attend Sunday services in person, this did not stop her dedication to prayer. She was able to live out her long life in her home, and it was important to her that she stayed in her home all the way through to the end. This was accomplished through the loving care of her children and with additional agency help from WRC and Help At Home. Her family thanks all of those who helped with this request she had and offers special thanks to Betsy, Michelle, and Wendy. Lois was a kind and gentle woman who will be missed by those who were blessed to have her in their lives.

Lois is survived by her two daughters, Linda Lamb of Brookville and Brenda (Patrick) Weaver of Clarion/North Carolina; her son, Gary Summerville of Brookville; her sister, Nancy Lingle of Bradenton, Florida; and two grandchildren, Mark Edward Wolfe and Vanessa Wolfe with her husband Logan Anderson.

In addition to her husband and parents, Lois was preceded in death by three sisters, Bessie (Bob) McCullough, Elizabeth (Walter) Beardsley and Joan (Fred) Whelpley; her brother, Robert (Althea) Peace; and her brotherin-law, Darrell Lingle. A funeral service will be held on Monday, Sept. 16, 2024, at the Roseville Independent Chapel, 3598 US-322, Brookville, PA 15825, beginning at 11 a.m. and officiated by Pastor Jim Fillhart. There will be no formal viewing or visitation. Interment will take place at the Pisgah Cemetery, Corsica, Jefferson County.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Roseville Independent Chapel, or to Liberty Ministries, 565 Main St., Schwenksville. Services have been entrusted to the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home in Brookville. Online condolences and other information may be found by visiting www.dargyfh.com.
