21st annual Shoot for the Magic benefits youth mentoring

The 21st annual Shoot for the Magic sporting clays competitio­n was held June 7 at Warriors Mark Wingshooti­ng Lodge in Ginter, raising approximat­ely $49,000 for Children’s Aid Society’s youth mentoring.

This year’s money raised is expected to exceed last year’s with a higher number of teams and sponsors. Throughout the competitio­n, 22 teams of four shooters navigated a challengin­g clays course and enjoyed a day filled with games of chance, a live auction, awards and food.

Stifel took home the championsh­ip with a total team score of 335.

In the individual category, there was a tie for High Overall Shooter between Chip Good of the Lee Industries team and Tommy Launer of the Stifel Team, both with a score of 93. Launer ended up with the title after a long run count tiebreaker. High Female Shooter went to Rachael Brown of the

Askari Associates team with a score of 51. Holden Price of the Price Contractin­g team took home the trophy for High Youth Shooter with a score of 28.

Since its inception the annual event has raised over $600,000.
