Route 28 railroad crossing closing in Brockway

INDIANA, Pa. — PennDOT District 10 is announcing a closure on Route 28 (Main Street) Brockway, Jefferson County, as Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad will be replacing a railroad crossing beginning June 17 at 6:30 a.m. through June 21 at 6:30 p.m.

The closure will be for both vehicles and pedestrian­s. Signs will be posted alerting motorists to the closure and the detour route. The crossing is located between 5th Avenue and Pershing Avenue.

To detour from the northern side of the railroad tracks in Brockway Borough, motorists will travel north on Route 28, turn onto Route 219 South, continue on Route 219 South then merge onto Interstate 80 West. Travel Interstate 80 West and merge on to Route 28 North to return to Brockway.

To detour from the southern side of the railroad tracks in Brockway Borough, motorists will travel South on Route 28, then merge onto Interstate 80 East. Continue on Interstate 80 East, turn onto Route 219 North, and turn onto Route 28 South.
