2024 fish fry dinners served up during Lent

The following are some of the fish dry dinners being offered the Lenten season in The News-Herald coverage area.

Lake County

• The Knights of Columbus Council 5286 is hosting allyou-can-eat Fish Bake Fridays through March 22, except for March 15.

They will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 2846 Hubbard Road in Madison. Menu includes battered or season baked fish, baked-diced potatoes, mac-n-cheese, cole slaw, home-prepared desserts and beverages.

Dine-in only is all you can eat for $15 per person, $7 per children under 12, $50 for young families of four or more. Take-out will be available at the door.

The Knights’ annual Spring Cash Bonanza Charity statewide raffle with 25 cash prizes from $500 to $49,will also be available with a $5 donation.

• The American Legion Jay Wilson Post 112 is once again providing fish fry meals on the following Fridays — Feb. 23, and March 1, 8, 22, and 29.

Complete fish dinners are $12 and can be acquired from 5 to 7 p.m., either for dine-in or take-out. The post is located at 6671 Middle Ridge Road in Madison.

• Willoughby-Cleveland Elks Lodge 18, 38860 Mentor Ave. in Willoughby, will be offering fish fry meals from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Fridays through March 29.

It will be dine-in or carryout and the menu will feature a choice of walleye dinner for $16, three- or four-piece perch dinner for $13 to $16 and two or three seafood cake dinner for $13 to $16. A perch/shrimp combo for $13 and shrimp and steak dinners will also be available as will kids’ meals.

All dinners come with a cheddar biscuit and choice of potato or mac and cheese. Add $1 for carryout.

• St. John Vianney Fish Fry will be from 5-7:30 p.m. Fridays, through March 22 in the Fr. Kline Social Center, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor.

Dine-in cost is $20 for adults, $10 for children ages 5-12 and free for children 4 and younger. Cost of take-out orders is $20. All-you-can-eat is not available on take-out orders.

Dinners include soup, salad, cole slaw, baked and fried fish, pierogies, mac and cheese, rolls, dessert and beverage. Chicken tenders are available for children.

Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted.

• Amvets Post 109 at 7847 Lakeshore Blvd. in Mentor-on-the-Lake if holding a fish fry every Friday during Lent from 5 to 8 p.m. Fish dinners are $14 as are shrimp dinners while a combo dinner of fish and shrimp is $18.

• The Knights of Columbus 947 in Painesvill­e is offering a Lenten fish fry through March 29.

They will be served from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Parish at the Fr. Hanzo Center, 242 North State St. in Painesvill­e. Phone orders can be called in to 440-227-3172.

All dinners will include: choice of potato, cole slaw and bread, and coffee, milk, pop or water. Cost for dinners range from $10 to $16 with the option for additional sides.

Ashtabula County

Harpersfie­ld Volunteer Fire Department, 5636 Cork Cold Springs Road, will be hosting fish fry dinners on March 1, 15 and 29 and April 12.

Doors open at 5 p.m. Choose fish, chicken or shrimp or a combo with two of the three proteins; choice of baked potato or french fries. All dinners Include Jello, dessert, drink, coleslaw, roll and butter.

Adult dinners will cost $12 while children dinners will be $8 and an extra side of protein will be $5.
