Wellington woman elected treasurer of Farm Bureau Federation
Adele Flynn of Wellington has been elected treasurer of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation and now holds the third highest elected office in Ohio’s largest and most influential farm organization, according to a news release.
Flynn was elected by Ohio Farm Bureau Federation’s Board of Trustees upon the resignation of Chris Weaver of Lyons, who left the group’s board to stand for election to the Nationwide Board of Directors, the release said.
Weaver was elected to the Nationwide Board of Directors on April 4.
He served on the organization’s board for 10 years where strengthening partnerships with key groups such as Nationwide was a part of his work.
Ohio Farm Bureau founded the Farm Bureau Mutual Automobile Insurance Company in 1926, which later became Nationwide.
Today, Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau maintain a close relationship and share a focus of providing valued services for farmers and agriculture. Nationwide is the No. 1 insurer of farms in the nation and supports agriculture nationally, according to the release.
Weaver’s election to the Nationwide board demonstrates the company’s continued deep connections to the industry, the release said.
Flynn has been a member of Ohio Farm Bureau’s state board since 2018 and will continue to serve as the District 3 trustee representing Cuyahoga, Erie, Huron and Lorain counties.
She and her husband, Eric, farm full time.
Along with their three children, they have a cowcalf operation, raising freezer beef, show calves and breeding stock.
The Flynns also farm approximately 1,100 acres of cash grains with her family, according to the release.
Flynn is a 4-H advisor, serves on the Board of Directors for Centerra Co-op, Board of Trustees for the Ohio Soybean Council and is a delegate for the Council for Agricultural Research, Extension and Teaching for the Ohio State University.
Ohio Farm Bureau’s mission is working together for Ohio farmers to advance agriculture and strengthen our communities.
