Deputies Associatio­n provides gifts to children

With the help of some very generous donations this year, the Lorain County Deputies Associatio­n was able to provide over $27,000 in Christmas gifts to children in Lorain County, according to a news release.

Shopping was conducted by off-duty deputies and their family members at various stores, including Meijer’s in Avon and Target in Elyria, the release said.

The Lorain County Deputies Associatio­n donated to the following programs:

• The Lorain Salvation Army Angel Tree - $22,600 in gifts for approximat­ely 440 youngsters.

• Avon Police Hometown Hero’s - $1,500 in gift cards and shopping event.

• Not Forgotten Box $1,000 in toys purchased and delivered.

• Toys for Tots - $1,000 in toys purchased and delivered.

• Boys & Girls Club Elyria - $1,000 in toys purchased and delivered for 56 youngsters.

The Lorain County Deputies Associatio­n received the following donations to help make this possible:

Ross Environmen­tal Services Inc. - $10,000; Bill and Chris Cromling - $8,000; Lorain County Blue - $1,000; Eleven 10 $500; Lorain County AFL/ CIO - $500; Lorain County Common Pleas Judge James Miraldi - $100; Lorain County Common Pleas Judge Melissa Kobasher $100; Giovanna Bremke for Judge - $100; Robert and Sharon Bennett - $100; Lorain County Probate Judge Jim Walther - $50; Dawn Walther for Recorder - $50; Lorain County Common Pleas Judge D. Chris Cook - $50; and Lorain County Commission­er Michelle Hung - $50.

This was the largest holiday gift giveaway the (Lorain County Deputies Associatio­n) has ever been able to do, the release said.
