Elma Mae Uhle
Elma Mae Uhle, 103, of Allentown, died Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Cedarbrook Senior Care and Rehabilitation, where she was a resident for 12 years. Born in Allentown on March 29, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Anita Harley. She was the wife of the late Robert Goodwin Uhle and they were married for 64 years at the time of his death in 2005. Elma lived a life full of happy times with her family and friends, celebrating every holiday and birthday with her famous get-togethers. Everyone looked forward to her legendary parties by the pool. Her creativity was evident in all aspects of her life including her gardening skills, home-cooked meals and sewing beautiful dresses and doll clothes. She was especially fond of creating memorable Halloween costumes and dressing up for the occasion. She studied jewelry making with C. Leslie Smith, making one-of-a-kind silver pieces she gave as gifts. Her painting talents continued throughout her life, painting watercolors up until about a year ago. There are over a dozen journals she wrote, documenting her daily life and the good thoughts she was feeling. She was a writer for Cedarbrook's Sunshine News and illustrated many of its covers. She also had a love of nature and animals, raising a wide assortment of chickens, ducks, rabbits, dogs, cats and even a goat. Those that knew her, loved her. Always smiling, never complaining, she was a wonderful example of goodness for us all. Survivors: Daughter Jane Krasley and her husband Doug, Son-in-law Will Krempasky, beloved granddaughters Sue Dickinson (Pat), Katherine Steirer (Bill) and Jesse Krasley, all of South Whitehall Township. She is also survived by great granddaughters Katie Valentine, Julie Dickinson, Lizzy Steirer, Caroline Steirer, and Meredith Steirer. Great-Great Granddaughters are Lucy and Gwynn Valentine. Another great-great grandchild is on the way. Elma was predeceased by daughter Gwynn Krempasky and sister Marie Harley.
The family would like to acknowledge Cedarbrook Senior Care and Rehabilitation, with a special thanks to all those that cared for her. You all were her second family and you added years to her life and life to her final years.
