Sentry announces complimentary ticket program for first responders
The Sentry golf tournament, set for Jan. 4-7 at the Kapalua Plantation Course, announced Thursday it will be offering a complimentary ticket program for first responders on Maui.
The PGA Tour season opener’s stated goal is to be part of the island’s healing and rebuilding process after the Aug. 8 wildfires devastated West Maui, the Tour said in a news release Thursday.
“We are deeply grateful for the support our first responders are receiving through this wonderful opportunity,” Maui County Mayor Richard Bissen said in the news release. “Many of our emergency responders have themselves lost so much and have selflessly put others ahead of their own needs during the disaster and as we recover from the devastation. We are blessed by their dedication, their bravery, and aloha for our community.”
This initiative, developed in collaboration with ServPro, aims to offer a day of community spirit to acknowledge the service and commitment of local first responders in West Maui. Local first responders are invited to attend the PGA Tour’s season-opening event for no cost.
“While we acknowledge the path to recovery will be long and challenging, The Sentry remains deeply inspired by the unwavering resilience and optimism displayed by the remarkable people of Lahaina,” Max Novena, executive director of The Sentry who is based in West Maui, said in the release.
The First Responder Ticket presented by ServPro offers two complimentary tickets per day for all four days of the tournament. All first responders should visit thesentry.com for instructions on how to redeem tickets.
“First responders consistently sacrifice to safeguard our communities whenever they don their uniforms,” ServPro President and COO John Sooker said in the release. “The first responders in Maui, in particular, have faced significant challenges while assisting those affected by recent fires, even while more than two dozen of these heroes lost their own homes in the disaster. Providing them with a day of relaxation and enjoyment is our humble way of showing gratitude for their unwavering commitment.”
The military ticket program also returns to The Sentry, offering active, retired, reserved military and national guard members the opportunity to reserve two complimentary tickets per day. The Sentry also offers discounted grounds tickets each day to veterans.
Military members and first responders will need an active GovX account to verify status and unlock the ticket offer on thesentry.com. If military members and first responders don’t have one tied to their credentials, they must visit www.govx.com to create an account. Tickets are not transferable.
Earlier this week, The Sentry announced Tony Finau, Collin Morikawa, Xander Schauffele, and Jordan Spieth will make their return to Maui.
Finau is set to make his fifth appearance at The Sentry after earning his sixth career Tour title at the Mexico Open at Vidanta in April. In 2023, the 34-year-old earned 11 top-25 finishes, including a T9 finish at the Farmers Insurance Open and a T7 finish at the 3M Open.
Morikawa secured his fifth trip to The Sentry by finishing T6 in the final 2022-23 FedEx Cup standings. During the fall, Morikawa won the Zozo Championship, where he carded a final-round 63 to win by six strokes.
Schauffele will make his seventh consecutive appearance at The Sentry after finishing second in the final 2022-23 FedExCup standings. The 30-year-old earned 10 top-10 finishes in 2023, including two runners-up finishes.
Spieth, The Sentry champion in 2016, earned seven top-six finishes over the course of 22 events during the 2023 calendar year, including T4 at the Masters, T5 at the Memorial and a T6 finish at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
