Edwards pours in 51 points to rally T-wolves Heat 117, Hawks 111, 2OT

Anthony Edwards scored a career-high 51 points on 17-for-29 shooting from the field, leading the Minnesota Timberwolv­es to a 130-121 win over the visiting Washington Wizards on Tuesday. Nickeil Alexander-Walker added 23 off the bench for Minnesota (55-24), which has won four of its last five games. Rudy Gobert collected 19 points and 16 rebounds and Mike Conley scored 15 points. The Timberwolv­es lead the Western Conference by a half-game, pending the result of the Denver Nuggets-Utah Jazz game later Tuesday.

Corey Kispert led the Wizards (15-65) with 25 points, followed by Jordan Poole’s 24. Anthony Gill, Deni Avdija and Patrick Baldwin Jr. each tallied 15 for Washington, which fell for a fourth straight time. Johnny Davis added 10 points off the bench.

Tyler Herro scored 33 points and Jimmy Butler registered 25 points, nine assists, eight rebounds and three steals as Miami notched a double-overtime victory over host Atlanta. Nikola Jovic added 23 points and eight rebounds and Haywood Highsmith scored 13 points for Miami (44-35). Bam Adebayo had 10 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and three steals for the Heat, who remain in eighth place in the Eastern Conference, a half-game behind the Philadelph­ia 76ers and a full game in back of the Indiana Pacers.

Atlanta’s Dejounte Murray recorded 29 points, 13 rebounds, 13 assists and four steals for his 19th career triple-double. De’Andre Hunter added 23 points and 11 rebounds for the Hawks, who are in 10th place in the East after losing their third straight game.

Joel Embiid had 37 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists to lift host Philadelph­ia past Detroit.

Buddy Hield scored 18 points, Kelly Oubre Jr. finished with 17 and Tobias Harris added 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Sixers (45-35), who won their sixth in a row.

All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey sat out with hip tightness, two days after scoring a career-high 52 points in a 133-126 double-overtime victory over the San Antonio Spurs.

Holmgren finished with 15 and at team-high nine rebounds for the Thunder (54-25), who formally clinched no worse than the third seed in the Western Conference as they duel with the Minnesota Timberwolv­es and Denver Nuggets for the top postseason spots.
