In these demonstrations Phil Malhiot will take rough stock material (TBD) and demonstrate his vision for how to take that material and transform it into something that will be recognizable as a potential future bonsai. This demonstration will include trimming, wiring, and shaping of the material and may include the creation of deadwood and/or carving depending on the final material selected. Free. Shimpaku Juniper is a popular species of juniper that is native to Japan and is prized for its fine, textured foliage and attractive bark. This is an outdoor tree and is winter hardy material. The material is approximately six years old and has been grown specifically as prebonsai.
