In these demonstrat­ions Phil Malhiot will take rough stock material (TBD) and demonstrat­e his vision for how to take that material and transform it into something that will be recognizab­le as a potential future bonsai. This demonstrat­ion will include trimming, wiring, and shaping of the material and may include the creation of deadwood and/or carving depending on the final material selected. Free. Shimpaku Juniper is a popular species of juniper that is native to Japan and is prized for its fine, textured foliage and attractive bark. This is an outdoor tree and is winter hardy material. The material is approximat­ely six years old and has been grown specifical­ly as prebonsai.
