Ford Motor Co. posted record sales in the second quarter year-over-year, with the two Louisville area assembly plants – Kentucky Truck Plant and Louisville Assembly Plant – playing a large part in the automaker’s success.

The plants in Louisville, which employ roughly 12,000 workers, produce different model Ford trucks and SUVs, including the company’s famed Super Duty truck.

Here’s a look at how the Louisville area plants helped Ford achieve a total vehicle sales increase of 1% year-overyear:

Ford Escape

The Ford Escape, considered a small SUV, is produced at LAP off Fern Valley Road.

Sales of the Escape are up 15% for the first half of the year when compared to 2023, according to Ford.

The plant has produced more than 101,000 Escapes this year, a 52% increase from last year’s production.

The Escape, along with its luxury counterpart the Lincoln Corsair will both be discontinued following the model year 2025 as LAP converts producing an “all-new EV product.”

Ford Expedition

The Ford Expedition, a large SUV produced at KTP off Chamberlain Lane, saw a 10% increase in the first half of year sales, Ford reported.

Ford reported KTP has produced more than 53,000 Expeditions this year already.

Ford F-Series Super Duty truck

The acclaimed Super Duty truck, known as the North America Truck of the Year, is part of Ford’s best-selling lineup. The trucks are produced predominantly at KTP, and a smaller number are made in Ohio, but recently Ford announced it would increase production of Super Duty at a plant in Canada.

Super Duty sales are up 8%. Production of Super Duty has increased by more than 40% this year.
