Milk Jug Germinatio­n. Join the Jefferson County Master Gardener Associatio­n as they discuss this outdoor form of seed starting that has become extremely popular due to the number of gardeners finding success in the practice. They will discuss how the process works and what types of seeds are the most successful. Participan­ts should bring one or two empty and clean gallon milk jugs, a utility knife and a roll of duct tape. Also, bring any excess seed you like to share. Christmas Tree Recycling. Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife will be accepting live Christmas trees for its Christmas Tree Recycling Program. Donated trees will be used to build fish habitat structures in public lakes across Kentucky, to enhance fish habitat and public fishing opportunit­ies. All decoration­s should be removed. Drop-off sites are listed and shown on the interactiv­e map at fw.ky.gov. Trees will be accepted now through Jan. 15.

Free Christmas tree drop-off sites will be available for Louisville/Jefferson County residents at three locations 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays through Jan. 27.

Waste Reduction Center, 636 Meriwether Ave. (closes at 3 p.m. on Saturdays).

The Hubbard Lane site will also recycle trees in to mulch that will be offered back to residents (bring an appropriat­e container in which to carry it). Christmas tree vendors may recycle their unsold trees Dec. 26 only and only at the Hubbard’s Lane site.
