Marilyn Jane Gangaway
Marilyn Jane Gangaway, 91 of Mohrsville, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2024 in her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was the wife of the late Richard John Gangaway, who passed away in 1993.
Born March 31, 1932, in Maxatawny Township, PA, she was the daughter of the late Edmund Mertz and J. Susan (Herbein) Schlegel.
Marilyn was a 1950 graduate of Kutztown High School. She was a member of the Lyons Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and was a volunteer at the Kutztown Grange stand during the Kutztown Fair and Folk Festival.
cleardot.gifShe enjoyed gardening, wildlife, crocheting, board shoots with her son and most of all spending time with her family.
Surviving are her children: Carl R. husband of Caroline Gangaway - Port Charlotte, FL; Mary Jane Dobson of Reading; Dale R. husband of Tracy Gangaway of Ontelaunee Township and Marcy Jean Levan of Mohnton.
Grandchildren: Jason and wife Theresa Gangaway; Jessica and husband Gary Gracely, Brenda Gallagher and fiance Harrison Schmidt; Kevin and wife Jennifer Dobson; Heather and husband Daniel Graeff; Krystal and husband Stephen Uhl; Tabitha and husband Daniel Deihm, and LeeAarron Levan.
18 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her great grandson Tyler S. Rothenberger and by her siblings: Eva R. Treichler, William J. Schlegel, George W. Schlegel, Catherine H. Rabenold, Pearl V. Zimmerman, Carl E. Schlegel, Fern A. Kerchner, Marie M. Leslie and Delmond Wayne Schlegel.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 30th at 10:30 am at the Stitzel Funeral Home, 3300 Kutztown Rd., Reading, PA 19605. A viewing will be held Monday evening, January 29th from 6-8 pm at the Stitzel Funeral Home, 3300 Kutztown Rd., Reading, PA 19605 and again on Tuesday from 9:30am – 10:30am at the funeral home. A burial will follow in Laureldale Cemetery.
