WRESTLING: INDIVIDUAL AND TEAM RANKINGS
The postseason is fast approaching in the world of high school wrestling. Teams around North Jersey learned their fate on Tuesday when the state team tournament was officially seeded. The road to Rutgers University starts next Monday with the opening two rounds for public schools and wraps up on Feb. 11 with the group finals at Jersey Mike’s Arena. Another important day on the wrestling calendar arrives on Thursday when Emerson/Park Ridge hosts Hasbrouck Heights in the NJIC final at 7 p.m at Park Ridge.
One team heading into postseason on a high note is Passaic Valley. The Hornets clinched their 700th all-time win on Friday night and set a program record with their fourth straight division title. In attendance was former coach Dave McMahon, who started the school’s wrestling program back in 1962.
