Blackberry Smoke brings southern rock back to Fox on Oct. 30

-

If you missed Blackberry Smoke’s debut last fall at the Fox Theater, never fear. The Southern rock band will bring its “Be Right Here” Tour to downtown Bakersfield on Oct. 30.

“In life, we all are faced with choices,” vocalist/lead guitarist Charlie Starr said of the lead track “Dig A Hole” on the band’s new album “Be Right Here.

“Are we going to do good, or are we going to do bad? Are we going to love, or are we going to hate? We have a finite amount of time, each of us on this Earth. So (we) probably want to make the best out of it instead of wasting time.”

The Georgia-based band — consisting of Starr, keyboardist

Brandon Still, guitarist/vocalist Paul Jackson, bassist/vocalist Richard Turner and drummer Brit Turner — brings a more self-assured sound to its blues-leaning classic rock and rootsy vintage country style.

Its previous four full-length albums reached the top 10 of the Billboard country charts, with two (2015’s “Holding All The Roses” and 2016’s “Like An Arrow)” landing at No. 1. The band’s 2021 album “You Hear Georgia,” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Americana/folk chart.

In its 20 years, the band has toured with ZZ Top, Zac Brown Band and Eric Church.

Doors open at 7 p.m., the show is at 8 p.m. Oct. 30 at the theater, 2002 H St.
