Walk-off homer eliminates Texarkana at tournament

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. — Aiden Stout put together a brilliant pitching performanc­e to help Bryant beat Conway 4-2 and advance to the American Legion Seniors State Championsh­ip at Majestic Park.

Bryant will face unbeaten Sheridan on Saturday with the first pitch set for 5 p.m. with a second game, if needed, to be played at 7:30 p.m.

Stout was efficient on the mound not throwing more than 18 pitches in any one inning. The right-hander allowed two runs on five hits while striking out four batters. Before exiting the game in the seventh.

Bryant took a 2-0 lead, manufactur­ing a run in the first and plating another in the third with the help of a Barrett Royal single.

Conway banged out three hits in the third and got on the board on Lucas Carners base hit to cut the Bryant lead to 2-1.

The Black Sox picked up two more runs in the fifth as Hudson Thomason brought home the first run on a sacrifice fly scoring Colby Duncan who reached on a walk earlier in the inning.

Bradyn Coger then singled scoring the second run of the frame.

Conway chased Stout from the game in the seventh after back-to-back singles by Carson Zachary and Kaden Brooks.

Wyatt Taylor entered the game and was able to get the save retiring three straight batters despite giving up a run.

CONWAY 5 , TEXARKANA 4 (TEXARKANA ELIMINATED)

Carson Zachary’s walk-off home run propelled Conway into the eliminatio­n game finals as Conway downed Texarkana 5-4.

Trailing 4-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh, Lucas Carner began the rally with a single to left field. Ty Ruby was then hit by a Jonathan Garcia pitch to set the stage for Zachary.

Zachary took the first pitch from Garcia and drove just inside the right field fair pole for the game-winner.

Zachary went 3-for-4 in the game, while Carner had two hits and a pair of runs scored.

TJ Cook led Texarkana with a pair of hits and a run batted in.

Kaden Brooks picked up the win in relief pitching the final 3 innings allowing one hit while striking out three Razorback batters.
