TEXARKANA, Texas — A longtime Texarkana campground has two new owners who are bringing $100,000 in upgrades.

The Texarkana KOA Journey Campground is now in the possession of Blaz Korosec and Blake Dewitt. They finalized the purchase from Michael Schiff, of Luxury Lodges of Texas, on March 22.

The campground is at 500 St. Michael Drive, just off Interstate 30.

“We think Texarkana has a lot of potential and is a great town and very representative of both Texas and Arkansas spirit,” Dewitt said. “We took over the campground because we are a family company and felt that we could deliver a great experience for both residents and visitors for our RV park.”

Included in the $100,000 investment are improvements to the hiking trail that meanders along the back part of the property.

The camp store now has an on-site RV Art Gallery, which celebrates the RV lifestyle. Visitors can view commissioned artwork and browse for print reproductions, notecards, magnets, books, videos, calendars, jewelry, china, clothes and other collectibles.

“We have the only specialized RV Art Gallery in the U.S., so it’s a really big hit for visitors when they come into our parks and see all the paintings and souvenirs we have that are Rv-related,” Dewitt said.

Texarkana KOA Campground has both long-term and temporary space available, Dewitt said.

“Before, most of the KOA park was temporary stay, and we feel that there is a real need for affordable housing in Texarkana, especially with housing prices increasing everywhere,” Dewitt said. “We have designated a certain portion of our RV park to be a long-term or longer stay for option with people with RV’S.”

A mobile home park is at the back of the 30-acre campground. It has laundry facilities, a pool and fulltime security.

The owners have rebranded the mobile home park from North Gate Mobile Home Park to The Park at Texarkana.

Texarlama KOA Journey is one of more than 500 KOA campgrounds open to the public across the U.S. and Canada. The Texarkana KOA Journey received the 2024 President’s Award for meeting quality standards and being recognized by guests for service. It is open all year.

The Texarkana KOA Journey features a swimming pool, a playground, and recent fiber optic upgrades, according to a news release.
