Pacers acquire Siakam; Warriors assistant dies

The Pacers acquired All-Star forward Pascal Siakam in a trade that sends Bruce Brown, Jordan Nwora and three first-round picks — two in 2024 and one in 2026 — to the Raptors, according to reports Wednesday.

The Pacers are the highest-scoring team in the league and entered Wednesday night’s games sixth in the Eastern Conference.

Siakam, 29, is averaging 22.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game this season. He’s in the final year of his contract.

In a separate trade, the Pelicans sent Kira Lewis to the Raptors.

Warriors assistant coach Dejan Milojević died in Salt Lake City after suffering a heart attack. The 46-yearold was part of the staff that helped the Warriors win the 2022 NBA title. He was a former star player in his native Serbia. The NBA postponed Wednesday night’s game between the Warriors and Jazz. ... Giannis Antetokoun­mpo sat out the Bucks’ game against the Cavaliers with a bruised right shoulder.

College basketball: The TCU women’s team canceled games against No. 7 Kansas State (Wednesday) and No. 24 Iowa State (Saturday) because the team doesn’t have enough available players. The TCU athletic department said in a statement that the games were canceled “due to injuries within the program and in the interest of the health and safety of our student-athletes.” The program also announced it would hold open tryouts later this week for players interested in walking on for the rest of the season.

NHL: The NHL postponed the game between the Blackhawks and Sabres because of travel restrictio­ns in western New York for extreme winter weather. The game will instead be played Thursday. ... The Sharks announced that they will retire Joe Thornton’s No. 19 at some point next season. Thornton, who spent 15 of his 24 seasons with the team, will join Patrick Marleau as the only players in franchise history to have their numbers retired.
