After an electrifying Golden Gate Park concert with System of a Down last month, Deftones is returning home to Northern California in the new year.

The alternative metal rockers are embarking on a short North American tour in 2025, and they plan to play their hometown of Sacramento on March 1 before hitting San Francisco’s Chase Center on March 4.

Rock bands the Mars Volta and Fleshwater are billed as special guests on the trek, which is scheduled to kick off in Portland on Feb. 25 and wrap up in Boston on April 8.

Ticket presales began Wednesday, Sept. 18, with a general sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20.

It’s been a packed year for the Grammy-winning band, which recently performed at festivals such as Southern California’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, Chicago’s Lollapalooza and Primavera Sound in Barcelona. On Aug. 17, Deftones performed a 15-song set packed with fan favorites across its discography like “My Own Summer (Shove It),” “Change (in the House of Flies)” and “7 Words.” The band coheadlined at Golden Gate Park’s Polo Fields, alongside Los Angeles metal group System of a Down. The Mars Volta was also on the bill for the onenight outdoor concert, which drew around 50,000 attendees.

Organized by Another Planet Entertainment, the Bay Area producers behind the annual Outside Lands festival that took place at the park a week prior, the show was part of a continuing partnership between Another Planet and the city to bring more live music events to San Francisco. Others include the “rave” that featured DJs Skrillex and Fred Again in June and the upcoming free Portugal. The Man concert, both at Civic Center Plaza.

Deftones and System of a Down sold exclusive San Francisco merchandise at the Golden Gate Park concert. Lines were so long that most of the items sold out, prompting both bands to offer their collections for a limited time online just a few days later.

Before heading on tour, Deftones is scheduled to perform Nov. 2 at its fifth annual Dia De Los Deftones festival at Petco Park in San Diego. The sold-out event is hosted and curated by the band and open to all ages. This year’s lineup includes hiphop duo Paris Texas, punk rock group Idles and rock band Sunny Day Real Estate, which plans to perform its 1994 debut album, “Diary,” in its entirety.
