Report: Woman threw concrete at police, smashed bottles in liquor store rampage

A Rome woman listed as homeless is facing charges after an incident involving Rome police at the Bottle & Basket liquor store on Redmond Circle on Wednesday morning, reports state.

According to Rome Police Department and Floyd County Jail reports:

Karry Elaina Hays, 57, walked into the store and immediatel­y informed employees to call the police before saying “I have a gift for you” while grabbing a liquor bottle and threatenin­g to throw it at an employee. A customer grabbed the bottle from Hays, who then grabbed four more bottles, smashed them on the floor and left the store.

When she reached the parking lot, she proceeded to throw a chunk of concrete through the rear window of a black 2021 Toyota Rav4 and another chunk onto a police vehicle, damaging the hood.

She was then taken into custody and charged with felony aggravated assault, criminal damage to property, interferen­ce with government property and criminal trespass. She remained in jail without bond as of Thursday.

KINGSTON MAN CHARGED WITH RUNNING OVER WOMAN

A Kingston man is accused of driving a car recklessly and running over a woman with the vehicle, reports state.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Gregory Lee Crowe, 56, is charged with felony aggravated battery, misdemeano­r reckless conduct and family battery for the incident, which occurred on New Hermitage Road in Shannon Monday morning.

He remained in jail on $11,200 bond as of Thursday.

TASK FORCE BUSTS 2 FOR METH POSSESSION

The Rome-floyd Metro Task Force arrested two people at a home on Malone Drive in Garden Lakes Wednesday night, reports state.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Zachary Andrew Woods, 34, and Ronni Cecelia Steele, 32, are both charged with felony possession of meth and intent to distribute it along with misdemeano­r possession of drug-related objects. Woods is also charged with a probation violation.

Steele and Woods remained in jail without bond as of Thursday.

SILVER CREEK MAN FACING ADDITIONAL GUN CHARGE

A Silver Creek man, arrested Saturday night on gun and drug charges, is facing additional charges after police determined his pistol had been stolen, reports state.

According to Floyd County Jail charges:

Nicholas Andrew Jones, 35, is additional­ly charged with felony theft by taking for stealing the pistol from a home on Blacks Bluff Road on July 15. He remained in jail without bond as of Thursday.

ROME MAN CHARGED WITH METH POSSESSION

A Rome man is facing drug charges after fleeing from police Wednesday afternoon on Flowery Branch Road outside Shannon, reports state.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Michael Brandon Stewart, 37, is charged with felony possession of meth and intent to distribute it along with misdemeano­r possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. He was found with two baggies of meth and a baggie of marijuana during his arrest.

He remained held without bond as of Thursday.

SILVER CREEK WOMAN CHARGED WITH STEALING $11,000 IN JEWELRY

A Rome woman is accused of stealing $11,000 worth of jewelry from another woman’s purse on Wayside Road on June 7, reports state.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Ashley Nichole Scherer, 38, is charged with felony theft by taking and a probation violation. She remained in jail without bond as of Thursday.

WEST ROME MAN CHARGED WITH METH POSSESSION

A West Rome man is facing a felony drug charge after police found meth during the search of a home on Judson Drive on July 8, reports state.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Demonte Devone Jones, 31, is charged with felony possession of meth. He remained in jail on $7,900 bond as of Thursday.
