Brown returns to victory lane in 3rd Annual Jack Ingram Memorial 111 race on June 8

HICKORY - The Catawba Valley roared to life on Saturday night (June 8) with the running of the 3rd Annual ValAsta Jack Ingram Memorial 111 presented by the Jeff Kincaid Insurance Group at the Birthplace of the NASCAR Stars, Hickory Motor Speedway.

Leading off the night’s action would be the Paramount Auto Group Limited Late Models for a 35 lap feature. Clark Houston in the #37 would top time trials and start from the pole position with Jordan McGregor in the #30 to his outside. Billy Snodgrass in the #99 and Trey Canipe in the #5 would make up row two for the start.

After two laps side by side with Houston, McGregor would nose ahead to the lead. Canipe would pressure Houston for second. Houston would use the high line to his advantage to maintain the second position from the hard charging Canipe. McGregor, Houston, Canipe, Snodgrass, and Michael Klein in the #32 would make up the top five at the halfway point. Zachary Dabbs in the #23 would work his way up to sixth and pressure Klein for fifth.

McGregor would drive on take take a dominant win. Canipe would make a last lap pass to finish 2nd while Houston would take 3rd. Snodgrass would grab 4th and Klein would come home in 5th.

The Super Trucks would roll off next in their 35 lap feature. Charlie Neill in the #2 would pace qualifying and start from the top spot with Aaron Hodges in the #9 to his outside. Rickey Dennie in the #8 and Jamie Johnson in the #88 would make up row two for the start.

Neill would jump to the early lead with Hodges dropping to fourth as Dennie and Johnson would both make the pass in turn two of lap one. After dropping several positions early, Hodges, in his first Super Truck race, would start knocking off consistent­ly fast laps and move around Johnson to third.

Neill would pull out to a commanding lead, but Dennie would start to reel him in over the middle portion of the event and cut the lead to a truck length with ten laps to go. Neill would prevail once again and take the checkered flag. Dennie would finish 2nd, Hodges would take 3rd, and Johnson would come home in 4th.

The NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series Late Models would hit the track next for the main event, the 3rd Annual ValAsta Jack Ingram Memorial 111 presented by Jeff Kincaid Insurance Group. Kade Brown in the #23 would top time trials and start from the pole position with Landon S Huffman in the #28 to his outside.

Thomas Beane in the #01 and Brody Monahan in the #17 would make up row two for the start. Brown and Landon S Huffman would battle door to door for the top spot until lap 3 when Brown would take the spot. The battle for third would be a furious five car battle with Monahan, Beane, Charlie Watson in the #9, Michael

Bumgarner in the #97, and Landon D Huffman in the #75 working it out for the position, and taking it three wide at one point.

Monahan would move to third, Watson to fourth, and Bumgarner to fifth. Watson and Bumgarner would start their charge to the front moving together around Landon S Huffman and Monahan for second and third. Watson would set his sights on the lead and move around Brown for the top spot on lap 13. Bumgarner would quickly follow and move around Brown for second on the very next lap.

Watson would set the pace and pull to a considerab­le lead. Brown would pull back to the bumper of Bumgarner and look to head back toward the front. Lap 44 would see Brown move around Bumgarner for second.

Brown would begin to reel in Watson in his bid to retake the lead. Lap 56 would be the halfway point of the race and also the lap that Brown would retake the lead. Bumgarner would also begin to reel in Watson for the second position. Lap 65 would see Bumgarner make the pass on Watson for second.

Brown, Bumgarner, Watson, Landon S Huffman, and Beane would make up the top five with 25 laps to go. Without benefit of a caution the leaders would begin to put some fast cars down a lap. The battle for fourth would be interestin­g as Landon S Huffman and Beane would have a spirited, but clean battle over the closing quarter of the race.

Brown would prove too strong and drive on to take the win. Bumgarner would finish 2nd with Watson holding on to take 3rd. Landon S Huffman would grab 4th and Beane would come home in 5th.

The Heritage Finance Street Stocks would hit the track next for their 30 lap feature. Jeff Sparks in the #7 would pace qualifying and start from the top spot with Cody DeMarmels in the #53 to his outside. Boo Carlisle in the #00 and Zach Mullins in the #19 would make up row two for the start. Sparks would pull to the lead with DeMarmels giving chase.

The caution would fly on lap 11 as Marshall Sutton in the #64 would have an engine let go as he drove off into turn one. The restart would see Sparks and DeMarmels bring the field back to the green flag. As the field would go into turn three contact between Jeff Morse in the #99 and Trey Buff in the #48 would bring out the caution once again.

The restart would see Sparks and DeMarmels bring the field back to green flag. After several laps side by side with DeMarmels, Sparks would pull back to the lead. Lap 17 would see the caution fly for a spin by Mullins.

Sparks and DeMarmels would bring the field back to the restart. Sparks would pull back to the lead with DeMarmels close behind. Sparks would drive on to take the win. DeMarmels would finish 2nd with Reynold taking 3rd. James Nanney in the #6 would grab 4th and Morse would come home in 5th.

Finishing out the night’s festivitie­s would be the Renegades for their 20 lap feature. Jackson Sparks in the #7 would top time trials and start from the pole position with Gary Ledbetter in the #28 to his outside.

Steve Smart in the #16 and Matthew Chambers in the #81 would make up row two for the start. Sparks would pull to the early lead with Ledbetter facing challenge from Smart for second position. Ledbetter would secure the spot and challenge Sparks for the top spot. Lap 4 would see Ledbetter move around Sparks for the lead.

The caution would fly on lap 7 as the #1 of Justin Austin would spin off of turn four. The restart would see Ledbetter and Sparks bring the field back to the green flag. Ledbetter would pull back to the lead with Sparks giving chase. The caution would fly on lap 9 as the #55 of Jordan Cook would spin in turn four.

Ledbetter and Sparks would bring the field back to green flag. Ledbetter would move back to the lead with Sparks facing challenge from Smart for second. Contact between the two cars would bring out the caution as both would spin.

Ledbetter and Austin would bring the field to the green flag. Sparks would work his way back up to third after passing Chambers. The caution would fly on lap 15 as Sparks would have a flat tire while trying to pass Austin for second. Ledbetter and Austin would bring the field back to the green.

Ledbetter would pull to the lead with Austin and Chambers

giving chase. Ledbetter would drive on to take the win. Austin would finish 2nd with Chambers grabbing 3rd. Cook would take 4th and Harley Bell in the #4 would come home in 5th.
