Notes: The Red Tornadoes extended its home winning streak to 17 games in what was its home finale of the 2023-24 season.
This will be Hickory’s 18th appearance in the Regional Final with its last activity being in 2018. The Red Tornadoes are 8-9 in the Regional Championship all-time.

travels to LJVM Coliseum at Wake Forest University on Tuesday night to battle No. 2 Central Cabarrus (31-0). Tipoff is slated for 8 p.m.
A victory for the Red Tornadoes will give lead to its 4th all-time state championship appearance on Friday, March 15.
Hickory is 0-3 overall in state title games with its last appearance in 2012.
Last season, Central Cabarrus completed their perfect season with a state championship and looks to go backto-back this year.
VARSITY SOFTBALL
Maiden won their season opener against Conference opponent West Lincoln 7-3 at West Lincoln.
Sophomore Raegan Rembert pitched a completed game with 5 hits, 3 runs, 0 ER, 3 BB and 9 K’s.
Seniors Averie Waddell (2-4 with a BB), Macy Michael (1-2 with 2 BB’s) and Gracey Smalling (1-2) all batted .500.
Raegan Rembert (1-3 with a solo HR), along with freshmen Emme Tomblin (1-3 with a sac bunt) and Ella Bryan(1-3 with a BB) all batted .333.
