CRANIACS SERIES 1
Imagine if you will, a world where a cataclysmic event has thrown two very different cultures together—the Retrovians, who hail from ancient times, and the Futerrans who come from the distant future. Different in many ways, their only common feature is they all have skull faces! Welcome to the world of the Craniacs, created by Ira Friedman and Joe Simko of Friedman Enterprises, LLC. Both names should be familiar to collectors. Friedman has over 30 years executive experience with Topps; his current title is CCO (Chief Craniac Officer). Artwork is by Simko, who is well-known for his Garbage Pail Kids work. Series 1 follows the successful release of last year’s Series 0.
The base set will consist of 100 cards. Collectors can purchase sevenpack Blaster boxes or 24-pack Hobby boxes. The blasters will feature Retrovia inserts in the form of Crystal and Red Crystal cards. The hobby boxes will include Pulsar and Blue Pulsar Futerra cards. Both types of box will also contain randomly inserted Rainbow Foils and Gold Crackle numbered parallels. Each case of Blasters and Hobby will also contain a hand drawn sketch. The hits won’t stop there. Watch for randomly inserted Redemption cards in Blasters and Hobby, such as 50 Commemorative Coin Medallions. There will be four winners of Limited-Edition Skateboard Art Decks, signed by Simko, and finally one lucky winner will receive a Joe Simko original painting.
