Syracuse knocks off 23rd-ranked Georgia Tech

Kyle McCord passed for 381 yards and four touchdowns, two each to Trebor Pena and Oronde Gadsden II, and the Orange held on to knock off newly ranked No. 23 Georgia Tech, 31-28, on Saturday in Syracuse.

The Yellow Jackets (2-1, 1-1 ACC), ranked in the AP Top 25 last week for the first time since 2015, cut the lead to three with 2:31 to go on a 15-yard scoring run by Jamal Haynes.

The Orange (2-0, 1-0) made sure Georgia Tech never got the ball back, running out the clock for their first win against a ranked opponent since October 2022 against North Carolina State.

Rutgers 49, Akron 17

In Piscataway, N.J., Kyle Monangai carried 27 times for a career-high 208 yards and scored three short touchdowns to lead Rutgers (2-0) over Akron.

Army 24, Florida Atlantic 7

In Boca Raton, Fla., Bryson Daily threw for a surprise touchdown as Army’s running game dominated and the Black Knights iced the game with another trick play to debut in the American Athletic Conference with a win over Florida Atlantic.

Boston College 56, Duquesne 0

In Chestnut Hill, Mass., Thomas Castellano­s threw for 234 yards and four touchdowns in the first half before new Boston College coach Bill O’Brien went to his bench as the Eagles (2-0) followed up their upset of then-No. 10 Florida State by thrashing FCS Duquesne.

Lehigh 49, Wagner 13

In Bethlehem, Pa., Dante Perri threw two touchdowns passes, Nick Peltekian’s two intercepti­ons included a pick-6, and Lehigh (1-1) routed Wagner (1-1).

Stony Brook 37, Stonehill 10

Roland Dempster ran for 160 and three touchdowns and host Stony Brook built a 23-0 lead by halftime and rolled over Stonehill.

CCSU 33, Fordham 3

In New Britain, Conn., Brady Olson threw a pair of touchdown passes and Central Connecticu­t (1-1) torched Fordham (0-2).
