Pals again: J.Lo, Leah patch up
LEAH Remini and best friend Jennifer Lopez have reconciled amid the singer’s marital issues with Ben Affleck, a source has told Page Six.
Our source told us the rift between the pals resulted from Remini’s concerns about Affleck. She warned Lopez to remember the reason J.Lo originally broke up with the “Gone Girl” star when they first dated in 2002.
“Because he is selfish and is not fully committed as a partner,” said the source. “J.Lo was so mad, she cut off all ties,” and did not invite Remini to their wedding.
She was absent from the couple’s official ceremony in Georgia in August, which was attended by Affleck’s friends and former costars Matt Damon, Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes. Before that, Lopez and Affleck eloped in Las Vegas.
Now that Lopez and Affleck are on the rocks, a source said Remini has been wanting to reconnect. “They were friends for years,” the source told us. “She wants to reach out to her, but she can’t just call up and say, ‘I told you so.’ ”
We hear Remini has reached out and the pair have spoken, with Remini offering her former friend support.
Last September, Michelle Visage asked the “King of Queens” star if she and the singer were still friends on the “Las Culturistas” podcast. She replied: “No comment.”
Remini and Lopez met in 2004, at the time Lopez started dating singer Marc Anthony.
A source has told Page Six that Lopez and Affleck are going to end their marriage. The duo first sparked split rumors when Affleck did not attend the Met Gala with his wife last month. Reports say they’ve been living separately.
Lopez has said of her friendship with Remini: “It was one of those instant chemistry things, where you just feel like, ‘I love this person. I love being around this person. This person makes me laugh.’ ”
Reps for both Remini and Lopez did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
