Merced, California - Kim Brian Kahl born June 12, 1950 passed away September 3, 2024 in Brookings, Oregon. Kim was raised in Plainsburg, CA on his family’s ranch, attending Plainsburg Elementary and then attending Le Grand High School. Kim married Ruth Saulsbury shortly after high school and had two sons: Bryan and Brandon. They lived on the family ranch raising their two sons. Kim enjoyed time with his friends and family, watching his boys sporting events and coaching Brandon’s Little League baseball teams. Kim was the rock of his family, always offering sound advice, an optimistic attitude towards life in general and often letting his family know that “everything will be ok.”

Kim’s later years were spent with Laurie Mussotto and helped raise her son James Blaylock. Kim and Laurie enjoyed blended family vacations often at Santa Cruz and Bass Lake where many memories were made with family and friends. Kim loved spending time at the coast.

One of Kim’s proudest moments was becoming a grandpa to Brandon’s children: Khloe and Koven Kahl and later to James’ children: Austyn and Avery Blaylock. Kim enjoyed his grandchildren immensely and always had a smile when they were around.

Kim is preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Muriel Kahl, his sister Sue Kelsey and his beloved son, Bryan. He is survived by his son Brandon (Alison), his grandchildren Khloe and Koven, his companion Laurie Musotto, his stepson James (Shyanne) and their grandchildren Austyn and Avery. He leaves behind his brothers Kitt (Judy), Jon and many beloved nieces and nephews. To honor Kim’s wishes a private memorial will be held with family and will be laid to rest in peace at Plainsburg Cemetery.
