Malone, Margaret "Margie"
Margaret (“Margie”) Mary Malone entered into eternal rest on Christmas Day. Born in Hartford on September 16, 1946, Margie was raised in Rocky Hill and Wethersfield. She graduated from Hartford State Technical College, earning her degree in Electrical Engineering and Technology. Margie worked as an Electrical Systems Engineer and Substation Designer for Northeast Utilities for thirty years, followed by United Illuminating for an additional ten years. She designed electrical substations in many Connecticut locations including, Millstone Nuclear Power Plant. In her youth, Margie was a record-setting basketball and softball player. She went on to coach girl's youth and women's softball teams in her adult life. A switch-hitter, Margie coached and pitched for a championship team in the Southern New England Friendship League. Margie was a lover of horses, dogs, and cats, especially her beloved Irish Setter, Migsie, and red tabby, Kauai. Always the adventurer, she obtained her student pilot's, motorcycle, and boating licenses. Living on the Connecticut Shoreline for nearly all of her life, Margie embraced all that was sun, sand, and surf. Never without deeply bronzed skin, she combed beaches for unique shells and sea glass, and owned and operated cabin cruisers; this, bringing her immense joy. She also loved riding her Harley, and possessed a passion for photography, never more evident than when travelling across the United States and to several European countries. Margie will forever be remembered for her calm and gentle spirit, beautiful smile, and easygoing manner. Moreover, she was a natural conversationalist who was adept at putting others at ease. Predeceased by her parents, George Malone and Marie Lanzarone; brother, Harry, and cherished stepfather, Barney Lanzarone, Margie is survived by her sisters, Marie Paresi and Mary Malone, and nieces, Christine and Mary. Much gratitude and appreciation are extended to the staff at Artis Senior Living of Branford and to those from Compassus Hospice. Special thanks are given to Compassus direct care provider, Latisha Robinson, for her unwavering patience, compassion and genuine concern.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday morning, Jan. 2nd from 9:30 to 11:30 at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. at St. Barnabas Church/St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish, 44 Washington Avenue, North Haven.
