Monroe’s sophomore QB throws four TDs

Section V football season continued its opening week on Saturday, with some teams completing suspended games from Friday.

Here are the top individual performanc­es from Saturday’s action:

Noah Atteberry, Attica: A senior, he scored three touchdowns as he rushed for 137 yards on 20 carries to help the Blue Devils to a 36-0 win over Oxford of Section IV or Binghamton region.

Terrence Barner, Monroe: He returned an intercepti­on 35 yards for a touchdown during a 42-14 win over Clarence. Jermaine Montgomery also caught an intercepti­on and made 12 tackles.

Evan Blye, Avon: A quarterbac­k in his junior season, he completed 9 of 14 passes for 110 yards, including two touchdown throws to Kalman Dolgos, and one intercepti­on during his first varsity start. Avon defeated Livonia 39-7.

Ronan Boyle, Penfield: The junior defensive end made six tackles, two behind the line of scrimmage, to help the Patriots defeat Webster Thomas 21-13.

Tavion UPrep: The senior quarterbac­k punched in the Griffins’ only touchdown during a 34-8 loss to St. Anthony’s. He completed 13 of 20 passes for 150 yards and two intercepti­ons.

Jack Cianfrini, Oakfield-Alabama/Elba: The senior running back had 92 yards and a touchdown in OAE’s season opener, to go with nine tackles on defense.

Andy Crilley, Livonia: The junior running back returned a kickoff 72 yards for a touchdown and had 32 receiving yards during the team’s 39-7 loss to Avon.

Terrell Cunningham Jr., Monroe: The sophomore quarterbac­k threw for four touchdowns and 205 yards in his debut as the Red Jackets starter, completing 13 of 22 passes with two intercepti­ons during a 42-14 win over Clarence.

Wesley Farley, Avon: The senior

running back/linebacker led his team to a 39-7 win over Livonia with two touchdown runs among 59 yards on 10 carries and seven tackles.

Bailey Frank, Fairport: The senior running back scored a touchdown among 170 rushing yards on 28 carries to help the Red Raiders defeat Webster Schroeder in a game suspended by weather Friday night.

Raymond Garcia, Monroe: Both of the receiver’s receptions went for touchdowns, scoring on plays of 14 and 35 yards. Nasir Kelly and Luis Falu caught one touchdown each during a 42-14 win over Clarence.

Messiah Hampton, Monroe: The junior receiver totaled 87 yards on five touches and converted a pair of twopoint conversion­s during a 42-14 win over Clarence.

Aaron Hardaway, Penfield: The sophomore intercepte­d two passes, forced a fumble and broke up two passes to help Penfield defeat Webster Thomas 21-13.

DaJuan Jackson, Edison merged: The Inventors lost 20-14 to Wilson, despite Jackson’s fumble recovery, two sacks and 10 tackles.

Jayvon Johnson, UPrep: The Griffins receiver caught a 40-yard reception, ending the game with five catches for 95 yards during a 34-8 loss to St. Anthony’s. Paris Brooken caught five passes for 36 yards.

Tajmir Mullins, Monroe: The senior running back rushed 21 times for 175 yards and a touchdown during a 42-14 win over Clarence.

Noah Leitten, Letchworth/Perry/ Warsaw: Leitten was a force on both sides of the ball against Oakfield-Alabama/Elba, with a team-high 14 tackles (including one for a loss) and a sack on defense, and with 62 rushing yards and a touchdown on offense.

Kamari Miller, UPrep: The Griffins’ linebacker collected five tackles and recovered a fumble during a 34-8 loss to St. Anthony’s. Landon Nesmith had four tackles, one for a loss, and a hurry.

Landen Nagel, Attica: The freshman carried the ball nine times for 79 yards and scored a touchdown and made five tackles, including a quarterbac­k sack, as the Blue Devils delivered a 36-0 win over Oxford of Section IV.

Anthony Omebe, Monroe: Junior made eight tackles, with three sacks and forced two fumbles during Monroe’s 42-14 win over Clarence.

Noah Remington, Fairport: The senior running back scored a touchdown as he made 13 carries for 101 yards to help the Red Raiders defeat Webster Schroeder 23-14. Fairport rushed for 328 yards in a game that was suspended by weather Friday night.

CJ Robinson, UPrep: The senior running back had 16 carries for 89 yards during a 34-8 loss to St. Anthony’s.

Connor Smith, Avon: The senior lineman recovered a fumble, delivered a quarterbac­k sack and finished with seven tackles during Avon’s 39-7 win over Livonia.

Caden Sumeriski, Letchworth/Perry/Warsaw: L/P/W’s rushing attack was too much for Oakfield-Alabama/Elba in Week 1, led by Sumeriski’s 150 yards and one touchdown on nine carries. Teammates Jake McEntire (nine carries, 68 yards, two touchdowns) and Noah Leitten (nine carries, 62 yards, one touchdown) added some quality touches.

AJ Theodoraka­kos, Penfield: Junior running back/linebacker scored three touchdowns as he rushed for 148 yards on 12 carries during the team’s 21-13 win over Webster Thomas.

Jahmere Walters, UPrep: Returned a kickoff 58 yards during a 34-8 loss to St. Anthony’s.

Avery Watterson, Oakfield-Alabama/Elba: The senior linebacker led OA/E with 16 total tackles in the team’s loss to Letchworth/Perry/Warsaw. Watterson added 61 total yards on offense.

Taivon Wilson, UPrep: The Griffins’ linebacker collected eight tackles during a 34-8 loss to St. Anthony’s. Cashmere Williams had one of his 7.5 tackles go for a loss.

Taylor Zimmerman, Attica: The senior linebacker made a team-high seven tackles and junior Hunter Green had six and recovered a fumble while Attica shut out Oxford of Section IV 36-0.
