Buffalo Bills sponsor new chapter of National Gay Flag Football League
A chapter of the National Gay Flag Football League is coming to Buffalo. The Buffalo Bills announced their sponsorship of a chapter of the NGFFL in Buffalo on Tuesday, joining the New York Giants, New York Jets, New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins, Arizona Cardinals, Chicago Bears, Washington Commanders and Seattle Seahawks in showing their support for inclusivity.
“We are excited to join the NFL and other clubs across the league in their support of the NGFFL,” Buffalo Bills vice president of community impact Michelle Roberts said. “Through our sponsorship, we are looking forward to expanding the impact of the NGFFL in our community.”
Having launched in 2002, the NGFFL is a nonprofit sports organization whose mission is “to build an inclusive and empowering community through celebrating diversity, athleticism and sportsmanship” and “provide a safe space for individuals of all backgrounds to share a passion for flag football, promoting equality both on and off the field,” according to the league’s website.
Buffalo is joining 27 other cities and 4,000 players across the country. The New York Gay Football League, which includes players from in and around New York City, is currently the largest gay flag football league in the country, the league’s website says, with around 250 participants and 20 teams each season.
