Miller Place 4, Sutherland 1: End of fourth inning

Sutherland freshman pitcher Petra Hunt reached on an error. Junior catcher Alex Sippel walked. Freshman Amanda Meyers, whose triple in regionals led to the game-winning run, drove in Hunt for the Knights' first run. Devaney loaded the bases on a hit-bypitch with one down.

At the bottom Hunt forces a 1-2-3 inning. Hollenbeck with a couple ropes for 5-3 outs, then Hunt continued her brilliant fielding for the 1-3.

Miller Place 4, Sutherland 1: End of fifth inning

No runs were scored here. Sutherland sophomore Gabby Lyons collected her first base hit, but it caught stealing after a strikeout for a double play to retire the side. Zicchinell­i singled for Miller Place.

Miller Place 4, Sutherland 1: End of sixth inning

Meyers collected her second hit with one down, then Julia Hunt walked, but Sutherland's final two batters were retired. Zicchinell­i has seventh strikeouts for Miller Place. Knights have 9-1-2 coming up in the order T7.

Kesler hit a leadoff single but forced out on Brooke Borkowski's fielder's choice. Bryant singled. The Panther get runners on second and third, but Petra Hunt struck out the side.

Miller Place 4, Sutherland 1: End of seventh inning

Zicchinell­i struck out two more in a 1-2-3 inning to end the game. She struck out nine in the complete game win, scattering four hits and walking four batters. Miller Place (21-4) will advance to Saturday's Class A final.

Petra Hunt struck out two in the complete game loss while making numerous plays in the infield. The Knights end the season 19-5. Ava Geglia is their only seniors with a crop of young kids returning to defend their Section V Class A crown.
