Davis, who played in NFL, dead at age 35

Former Miami Dolphins and Indianapol­is Colts cornerback Vontae Davis was found dead in his South Florida home on Monday, but police say no foul play is suspected.

Vontae was the brother of Vernon Davis who played with the San Francisco 49ers between 2006-2015.

Police in the Fort Lauderdale suburb of Davie said they responded to a medical emergency at Davis' home Monday morning, but the 35-year-old was dead when officers arrived. No cause of death has been released pending autopsy results. Police said in a statement that the investigat­ion is still active.

Davis played for 10 seasons in the NFL after being drafted 25th overall by the Dolphins in 2009 out of Illinois.

“We are heartbroke­n by the sudden passing of former Dolphins CB Vontae Davis and extend our deepest condolence­s to his family & loved ones during this difficult time,” the Dolphins wrote in a statement on social media.

A total of six vehicles were involved in the crash shortly before 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the northbound lanes of North Central Expressway, Dallas police said Monday. The people in the Lamborghin­i and Corvette left the scene without determinin­g if anyone needed medical attention or providing their informatio­n, police said. Two of the drivers in the other vehicles were treated at the scene for minor injuries, and two occupants of another vehicle were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

COLORADO BRINGS IN SAPP » Hall of Fame defensive lineman Warren Sapp is headed back to the classroom in order to be more of a hands-on coach for the Colorado Buffaloes.

Deion Sanders added the 51-year-old Sapp to the staff as a graduate assistant, which paves the way for him to work on the field with the team. Sapp, who's taking classes, introduced himself to the Buffaloes as the senior

quality control analyst.

The University of Miami standout spent 13 seasons in the NFL with Tampa Bay and the Oakland Raiders.

Sapp was the 1999 AP defensive player of the year and won a Super Bowl title with the Buccaneers following the 2002 season.

NCAA SAYS A 3-POINT LINE WAS DRAWN 9 INCHES SHORT AT PORTLAND REGIONAL >> The NCAA said one of the 3-point lines on the court used for the women's basketball regionals at Moda Center in Portland, Oregon, was about 9 inches short of regulation, a mistake by the contractor that makes the courts used throughout March Madness.

The line was corrected, the NCAA said. UConn and USC were scheduled to play the last Elite Eight game to determine next week's Final Four later Monday on that court.

The NCAA uses Connor Sports to supply and install the courts.
