Maureen Catherine Rogers, (nee Murphy) of Crown Point, Indiana, and Venice, Florida, formerly of the East Side. Born on October 23, 1946 and passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on May 21, 2024. Maureen was the youngest daughter to the late Helen and John Murphy. Devoted wife to John Rogers (ret. CFD) and loving mother to John (Mary Kay) Rogers. Proud grandmothe­r of Mikey, Jack, and Lily Rogers, and great grandmothe­r of Sienna Rogers. Beloved sister to the late Jack (Joyce) Murphy, the late Helen (Carl) Cimaroli, the late Patsy (Walter) Tovey, Tommy (Barb) Murphy, and the late Jerry Murphy. Dear sisterin-law to Ed (Terri) Rogers. A wonderful aunt and great friend to many. Maureen was born in Chicago and raised in the Mount Greenwood and Roseland neighborho­ods. She attended Mother of Sorrows High School where she was escorted to her senior prom by the love of her life, John Steven Rogers. They married on May 24, 1965 and enjoyed 59 years of love and adventure. Together they raised their only child, Johnny. Maureen adored him. She was so proud of his accomplish­ments. He was the light of her life. Maureen always loved to be active. As a younger woman she played racquetbal­l and jogged. When she was 39, she joined the police academy and served the city of Chicago as a police officer for eight years. For the past 30 years, golf became her passion and favorite pastime. Whether it was playing with her foursome of girlfriend­s in Florida or playing close to home with her husband, son, and grandson, Jack. She loved the game. She was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs, the Mount Carmel Caravan, and more recently, the Clemson Tigers. Maureen was an avid animal lover. She raised several dogs in her lifetime. Closest to her heart were Murphy and her sweet Bella who she leaves behind. She loved to decorate, cook, and entertain. She loved a good party. Maureen was raised Catholic and maintained a strong belief in God. She believed, and we know that one day we will all be together again. Until then, rest in peace Ema Mo. Visitation will take place on Friday, May 24, 2024 from 2:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Elmwood Chapel 11300 W. 97 th Lane. (1/2 block west of US 41/Wicker Ave. at 97th Lane, St. John, Indiana).
